Ville del Sol, a Mexican resort community north of Los Angeles, was the site of a fire in April that forced the closure of the resort and forced the evacuation of more than 1,000 people.
Walmart and other retailers in the area had previously planned to open stores in the nearby town of Villa Del Sol.
Walmart officials said on Tuesday they will open a store in Villa Del.
The two-story, 2,200-square-foot store at the Walmart Supercenter will feature a full-service kitchen, dining area, outdoor patio, and a bar area, according to a statement from Walmart.
The store also has a parking lot and an outdoor plaza.
WalMart said it is the largest American retailer to open a new business in the resort area, with more than 50 stores in California and Arizona.
Walmarts in Villeray and Villa del Sol have also opened restaurants in the areas of Villa del Rio and Villa Del Toro, which are close to the tourist resort.
Villeray, which is the resort town, is located about 70 miles south of Los Alamos, Nevada.
