A look at the most expensive summer villa for Australians, according to a recent study by Property Advisor.
Rugby league star Anna de Ville, who spent $2.5 million on a $15 million home in July, was the top earner with her $1.3 million house in Sydney.
The Melbourne star’s luxury villa at The Lighthouse at Marina Bay is listed on Airbnb for $1,300 per night.
Aston Villa star Alex Hirsch spent $6.3m on a two-bedroom, four-bathroom beachfront property in Sydney in 2015.
And, as with many Australian properties, the villas listed on the popular Airbnb platform are not listed on real estate agents, which means that buyers and sellers can’t contact one another directly.
The average price of a Sydney property was $2,813,000, which equates to $9,821 per week.
That’s down a whopping 20 per cent from 2015, when the average price was $3,091,000.
According to the latest report, Australia’s largest property developer, Macquarie Group, expects the Australian economy to be a $9 billion industry by 2020.
